The Robert Brooks Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides shelter, food, clothing, and education to homeless families with children in the Charlotte metro area.

We help nonprofits become more effective
We believe that every family deserves a safe and stable home, especially those with children who face the challenges of poverty and homelessness. Our mission is to help homeless families find permanent housing, access basic needs, and improve their quality of life. We do this by offering a range of services, such as:
- Emergency shelter and transitional housing
- Food pantry and clothing closet
- Case management and referrals
- Life skills and financial literacy training
- Job readiness and placement assistance
- Child care and after-school programs
We also advocate for the rights and needs of homeless families and work to raise awareness and prevent homelessness in our community.

Our Service Area
We serve the Charlotte metro area, which includes Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, and Union counties. We partner with local agencies, churches, schools, and businesses to reach out to homeless families and offer them our services. We do not operate shelters, but we have agreements with several hotel partners who provide us with rooms for our clients when they need immediate shelter. This allows us to keep people from being homeless and give them time to plan for their future.
Our Focus
Helping the homeless families with children who go to Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) is one of our main priorities. We work in close partnership to find out which families need our help and give them the services we have to move them off the street and into a stable home where they can begin to form a foundation. We are recruiting a group of volunteers who mentor and tutor the students at their schools. We want to help the students deal with the difficulties and obstacles of homelessness and reach their academic and personal goals.
